How to Turn Off Short Videos on YouTube - Watching short videos on YouTube can be a fun way to pass the time. Unfortunately, they can also be quite distracting. If you need to focus, you may want to turn off short videos on YouTube. Here's how to do it.
First, open YouTube in a web browser. In the top right-hand corner, click the three dots (...) to open the menu. From there, select Settings and go to the Feed section. On this page, you should see a checkbox next to the “Enable short videos in your feed” option.
If you don't want to see short videos in your home feed, uncheck the box next to the option. You should also see an option for “Enable stories in your feed”. Uncheck this box as well to disable stories. This will ensure that only regular videos show up in your feed.
If you're using the YouTube app on your mobile device, open the app and select the Profile Icon in the bottom right-hand corner. Then, tap Settings and go to Account Preferences. On this page, scroll down until you see the “Videos” submenu. There should be an option for “Show short videos in your home feed”. Uncheck the box next to the option to turn off short videos on your home feed.
You can also turn off short videos by disabling a few features in YouTube. To do so, return to the settings menu and select “Advanced Settings”. On this page, scroll down until you see the “Features” submenu. There should be an option for “Enable Short Videos” and an option for “Enable Stories”. Uncheck both boxes to turn off short videos and stories on YouTube.
This should prevent short videos from showing up in your home feed. Keep in mind that you may still see them when you search for something on YouTube or click on a related video. If you want to completely avoid them, you'll also need to disable related videos.
To do this, return to the “Features” submenu and uncheck the box next to the “Enable Related Videos” option. This will disable related videos and ensure that you won't see any short videos in your search results.
Finally, you can set up YouTube's Smart Feed feature to further prevent short videos from showing up in your home feed. To do so, return to the Feed section in the settings menu and make sure that the “Use Smart Feed” option is enabled.
Keep in mind that this will only filter out videos that YouTube deems unsuitable for your interests. It won't necessarily filter out short videos. With that said, it should help reduce the amount of short videos in your home feed.
These are the steps you need to take to turn off short videos on YouTube. Keep in mind that it may still take some time for the settings to take effect. Once they do, you should no longer see short videos in your home feed.
